Ubisoft, the gaming giant behind popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Far Cry, has announced a collaboration with blockchain gaming company Immutable to develop Might & Magic: Fates, a strategy card game based on the long-running Might & Magic series.

The free-to-play game will be available via iOS and Android, offering players the ability to collect and trade hundreds of cards featuring legendary creatures and heroes from the franchise. According to the announcement, players will be able to utilize faction-specific mechanics to develop strategies matching their individual playstyles.

“As one of the most iconic franchises in strategy gaming, Might & Magic has a rich legacy that we’re thrilled to expand upon,” said Nicolas Pouard, Vice President of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, in a statement. “This game will deliver a deep and rewarding experience for both long-time fans and new players alike, staying true to what has made the series special.”

Immutable is an Ethereum gaming platform that currently spans two scaling networks—Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM—though the firm recently announced plans to fold the original X network into the newer and more advanced zkEVM network. Immutable is also the developer behind NFT card game, Gods Unchained.

Ubisoft has been the most active major game publisher to make waves in the blockchain space, most recently launching a pair of games—Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles and Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.—in late 2024. Prior to that, the firm had made a number of other moves, including investments, collaborations, and experimental project launches.

Immutable and Ubisoft first revealed plans to team up for a game back in November 2023.

Immutable’s IMX token is up 48% over the last week to a current price of nearly $0.60, per data from CoinGecko, bouncing back into the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap after falling from the list earlier this month.
